Buvusiuose statybininkų rūmuose persipina keli istoriniai laikotarpiai. Aplink centrinę dalį išlikusios kolonos mena A. Vivulskio laikus ir bažnyčios projektą. Tuo tarpu A. Mačiulio projektas (visa likusi dalis) jau kitas architektūrinis stilius. Aš savo projekte
nutariau respektuoti abi epochas ir pridėti modernų ženklą, apjungiantį visas tris epochas.

Preexisting covered in new:
Preexisting Builders' palace contains a few historical styles of architecture. Arches in the centre comes from unfinished design of church by A. Vivulskis. Meanwhile building of A.Mačiulis (built around the arches of Vivulskis) comes from a different style of architecture. I wanted to preserve and respect the context by adding a modern sign of contemporary architecture. The result is a united composition of historical and modern architecture.
Idėja:
Pirmiausia urbanistiniame lygmenyje pagal užstatymo linijas pridedu keturis trikampius, kurie harmonizuoja formą, pastato planas tampa kontekstualesnis. Kuriant tūrinę kompoziciją pasirinkau gintaro įvaizdį. Šimtmečių senumo vabzdys ar fosilija išlieka kaip inkliuzas gintaro apvalkale. Lygiai taip ir buvusius statybininkų rūmus (kaip inkliuzą) nutariau apgaubti ažūrine konstrukcija, kuri apjungia formą ir suteikia renovuotam objektui naują, plastišką išorę, paliekant seną vidų.
Idea:
Firstly, in the urban scale I seek harmony with red lines of a streets. So, I add two atriums and a winter garden. As a result floor plan of preexisting building responds better to the grid of streets. Secondly, creating spacial composition I was inspired by an amber image where an insect from previous millennium is being covered by a resin of pine. So I decided to apply same for preexisitng bulding covering them openwork construction. As a result, silhoutte of a building looks dynamic and new, while the historical inside still remains.
